P4. Career and Study Options Flow Diagram

After Long Road, I plan to study Film Production at Arts University Bournemouth. While I'm enrolled onto the course I plan to do activities outside of university which will work towards my career plan - such as borrowing equipment from AUB and collaborating with friends on the course to make films in our spare time (also submitting them into film festivals). I also will be applying for more work experience opportunities on set and also for nearby film studios/production companies. Two of the people I will be moving in with are filmmakers (an editor and a cinematographer) so therefore we can collaborate in our free time and they will have equipment/software too.

After university I will apply for funding (crowd funding, BFI Film Fund etc…) and continue to collaborate and make short films. If I feel like I need to improve my specialist role even more, I will apply for a MA course in directing. Either way - if my application for an MA is unsuccessful (if applying for places such as the NFTS) I will continue to make short films and apply again in the future. While I am producing short films I plan to have a part time job which is linked to television or film, and hopefully go on to making a feature film if I acquire enough funding.

Contingency Plan
If I struggle to get into an MA course, or struggle with contacts or funding for short films, I will continue to look through websites such as theunitlist.com and Shooting People for jobs such as production assistant or first assistant director. Also I can try and get work through contacts in the industry (which I will/have made from Long Road Sixth Form, the BFI Regional Academy, the NFTS BFI Film Academy, Arts University Bournemouth, and possibly an MA course in directing). I will also look for a part time job to fund and produce my own films if the above fails.
